About Taiwan Bamboo Charcoal

Different from Japan Bincho charcoal which is hard charcoal produced from Quercus Phillyraeoides, Taiwan bamboo charcoal comes from bamboo plants named Phyllostachys Pubescens or Phyllostachys Makinoi, harvested after at least four years. It is made by means of a series of process including high temperature carbonization, refining and calcinations in a kiln.

Using bamboo plants harvested after at least four years(Phyllostachys Pubescens or Phyllostachys Makinoi), Taiwan Bamboo Charcoal is made by means of a series of process including high temperature carbonization, refining and calcinations. To produce high grade charcoal, attention must be paid at each stage starting from the selection, cutting, wrapping, smoking and drying of material until precarbonization, carbonization and calcination in a kiln.
